Last night I had a rare opportunity to be part of a great Media Event put on by IKEA Canada
to promote the Grand Opening of the newest Canadian store...right here in Richmond, BC.
It opens April 25, 2012
They had the store open for shopping for a select few Media guests the other evening!
It was a great experience, but one that I had to bring Ember along to!
There was a cocktail reception complete with a DJ! I was pretty relieved to see another baby there...
As always, she's kind of a party girl, and totally lapped up the attention from the party-goers!
It was a great distraction from the fact that, well, a baby was at a Media event cocktail party!
Many aspects of the store have very much the classic IKEA signature look...the industrial high ceilings, the minimalism, the WHITE...
But it's huge! It's 334,000 square feet!
While there, one of the IKEA Media Reps approached Ember and I as we hung around the outside edges, trying to eat as much of the delicious hors d'eouvers as I could grab, and she said to me, "They're the most important people in the world!"
I have always loved their philosophy on children!
And I loved this new eating area for the kidlets! It's such a fabulous idea!
There were loads of people there that I know a little bit from being part of the blogging community, and some very close friends were there too!
The very talented Mo from Mo' Funk Designs and my wonderful friend Julie was my date!
(Did I mention that Julie is pregnant with #2...a boy...due this June?! MORE ON HER LATER)
Pretty much the only plant I can keep alive...
I love plants, I just don't love remembering to water.
Just in case this next detail blows you away and makes you think I'm really organized,
do not be fooled.
I have this problem with thinking "I TOTALLY GOT THIS" in the color department and I buy things thinking they will match my rooms or the decor within them. When I bring the item home, sometimes they are so way off, I start to feel insecure with my color-eye.
I always seem to mistakenly believe I have a good one.
Or maybe it's that I'm EXTREMELY picky.
In the last while, I have just stopped buying things when I'm out because I end up disliking it when I bring them home, so I've resorted to not buying at all.
This night, I decided to bring the paint colors with me!
(Because I really wanted to shop!)

One of my purchases, thanks to my color swatches, was the Ofelia blanket in a deep blue/jade color!
I have swooned over the white version many times...but the jade version suits my bedroom perfectly!
The generous people from the IKEA media event handed us a swag bag as we left.
It was amazing! And everything in it tied into my color swatches! Such versatile items!
I almost missed this awesome USB flash drive!
My boys were all over the blanket today!
